Warren Kiamco and Dennis Orcollo of the Philippines saw their
respective campaign in the 2007 Predator World Straight Pool
Championship in New Jersey come to an abrupt end when they both
dropped their quarterfinal matches.
Kiamco, from Pasil,Cebu, lost to Huidji See of the Netherlands,
200-55, while Orcollo, the 28-year-old pride of Surigao del Sur, bowed
to Oliver Ortmann of Germany, 200-7.
Ortmann went on to win the title when he subdued See, 200-171 in the
finals to take the top prize of $12,500. See settled for $5500.
In the semi-finals, See bested Austrian Martin Kempter, 200-41 to set
up the final against Ortmann, a former world 9-ball champion, who beat
Danny Harriman of the US, 200-123.
Kempter and Harriman went home with $3,400 each while Orcollo, Kiamco,
Schmidt and Hohmann each received $2,450.
