ORCOLLO SETTLES FOR THIRD IN OLATHE 10-BALL;
CLIMBS TO NO.1 IN AZ BILLIARDS MONEY LIST
FILIPINO Dennis "Robocop" Orcollo finished third over-all in the just concluded Shooter of Olathe 10-ball extravaganza last July 18-20, held in Olathe, Kansas USA.
This tournament is played using oversized Valley bar tables and was dominated by hometown locals Shane McMinn and Mike Banks, Jr. This event featured 32 players that included 2007 Predator World 8-ball champion Shane Van Boening of the USA, 2007 US Bar Table 9-ball and 8-ball champion Warren Kiamco and Blaze 9-ball tour stop winner Jose "Amang" Parica.
The 28-year-old Orcollo, top player of Bugsy Promotion, earned the third prize worth US$11,000, causing him to claim the top spot in the 2007 AZ Billiards Player Money List with winnings accumulating to a total of US$ 55,950 that includes US$300 for finishing fifth in the Blaze 9-ball tour stop last July 14-15 at the Skyline Billiards hall in Brookyln, New York that was ruled by Parica. Orcollo also won the 2007 BCA Enjoypool.com tournament this year in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Bugsy boss Perry Mariano was elated with Orcollo's latest triumph in the US. "Orcollo is still one of the most bankable cue artists in the country today. He plays from within compensating his lack of tournament experience with his fearless determination." said Mariano, soon to be director of the Billiards and Snooker Congress of the Philippines (BSCP).
Former No.1 2007 Amway Women's World 9-ball champion Xiao Ting-pan of China dropped to No.2 in the money list with US$54,600 while former No.2 Johnny Archer of the United States landed No.3 list with US$52,440.
Other Money List notables are: Yang Ching-shun of Taiwan (US$40,000), Efren "Bata" Reyes (US$39,350.00) and double world champion Ronato Alcano (US$35,900) stayed at No.4 and No. 6 respectively. (Report from MARLON BERNARDINO).
