BATA, DJANGO BEATS SCOTTS IN WORLD CUP OF POOL

ONCE again the pair of Efren Reyes and Francisco Bustamante showed their might as they captured the round of 32 in the 2007 PartyPoker.net World Cup of Pool in Outland Nightclub, Rotterdam, Holland on Tuesday.

Defending champions in this event, Efren and his kumpadre "Django" Bustamante playing under the banner of Puyat Sports, beat the Scottish duo of Pat Holtz and Michael Valentine, 8-6 to enter the round of 16.

Meanwhile, the Philippines' next assignment is the team of Croatia, with Philipp Stojanovic and Ivica Putnik who beat team Russia, bannered by 15-year-old Ruslan Chinakov, the youngest player in the tournament, and paired with European No.1 Konstantin Stepanov, 8-5.

Other teams who made it to the next round are Team France against Team China; Team Holland-A duels Team Japan.

Team France earlier outclassed Italy 8-2 while China won over South Africa 8-1, as Holland A beat Indonesia 8-5.

Other teams playing in the round of 32 are, Austria against Australia; Germany over Singapore; Taiwan vs. Denmark; Holland B fights Belgium; Canada over India; Vietnam vs Korea; England vs Poland and Finland against Qatar.

A total of 31 different countries will be represented in the scotch doubles, winner-break format.

There is a $250,000 prize fund, that will be divided as follows: Winners $60,000 for the pair, runners-up $30,000, semi-finalists $16,000, quarter-finalists $10,000, last 16 $5,000, first round losers $3,000.
