BUSTAMANTE, GUEVARRA HEAD LIST IN SMC SCOTCH DOUBLES 10-BALL

THE TANDEM of Joven Bustamante and Benjie Guevarra heads the list when the country's first ever San Miguel Corporation (SMC) Scotch Doubles 10-ball event gets going on September 19, 20 and 21 at the Elbowroom/ Metro Walk in Pasig City.

The 28-year-old Bustamante, top player of Bugsy Promotion is fresh from earning one of the four slots allocated in the SMB RP 9-ball Open Baguio leg last Sunday while the 29-year-old Guevarra, top player of Bronco Stable won the winner-take-all 9-ball in Bowling Inn in Taft Avenue early this month.

"Ngayong pa lamang ay puspusan na ang paghahanda namin ni Benjie (Guevarra) sa SMC Scotch 10-ball doubles," said Joven, who is in the middle of rigid training along with Benjie at the Bugsy Lair's Billiard hall in Quezon City and Game Bowl at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.

Other players invited in this event are: are current double world champion Ronato Alcano, 2007 BCA Enjoypool.com Dennis Orcollo, 2006 Doha Asian games 9-ball gold at 8-ball silver medalist Antonio Gabica, 2006 Doha Asian games 9-ball silver medalist Jeffrey de Luna, 2007 Oslo, Norway Battle of Scandinavia 9-ball champion Roberto Gomez, 2006 SMB Asian 9-ball tour champion Gandy Valle, 2007 Korean Pro tour 9-ball champion Joven Bustamante, Carlo Biado, Mike Takayama and Elmer Kalaquian. The winning team (pair) will receive Php140,000.

Bronco stable member Jundel Mazon, and Jomas de Ocampo will also play along with Edwin Reyes, and top gunner in the 2006 Sydney World Junior quarter-finalist Renemar David.

Meanwhile, Negros Billiard Stable (NBS) top ace and reigning national open champion Lee Vann Corteza will also see action in this tournament. The 28-year-old Davao cue master is coming from a big win in the 2007 Turning Stone 9-ball Championships last August 16-19 at the Turning Stone Casino in Verona, New York.
